Belgian victims identified as US child porn ring is dismantled

The US Secretary for Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson, has announced the dismantling of a major child porn ring centred on a website that had 27,000 users. The ring's victims include over 250 children including Belgian minors.

The victims are mainly boys in the 10 to 17 age category. Two of the victims are under 3 years of age. Most of the victims hail from the US, but 23 victims come from countries as far afield as Belgium, the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

US investigators have been on the case since 2012. 14 men, who ran the subscription-based website, have been detained. The authorities of the US state of Louisiana have named 11 of them as suspects. They include the site's founder, 27-year-old Jonathan Johnson. Johnson could get a life sentence.
