Coach carrying Brits involved in fatal smash

A coach carrying British school children returning home from a skiing holiday has been involved in a fatal road accident on a motorway in Hainaut province. The coach was travelling on the E42 motorway when the accident happened at Gosselies, near Charleroi.

A Spanish-registered Mercedes hit the rear of the coach. Although none of the passengers in the bus were injured or killed, one person travelling in the Mercedes died at the scene.

The accident happened at 3am on Saturday morning. The school children and their teachers were able to continue their journey to Charleroi Airport in a replacement bus provided by the Charleroi Fire Service.
