In what was a pretty intense fight, Farias seemed to be getting the upper hand. However, from the fourth round Persoon was able to get in a few good punches. This eventually proved enough to provide the West Fleming with enough points to win the fight.
Delfine Persoon now has 29 wins and just 1 defeat to her name. Sunday’s fight was Farias’ 20th professional fight and only her first defeat.

Define Persoon now has four world titles to her name. Previously she won IBF WIBF and WIBA lightweight titles. However, the WBC title is the most important in women’s boxing.

"It my lifelong dream and the dream of the Lichtevelde Boxing Club that has been fulfilled. This is our world title. You don’t achieve something like this on you own”, a delighted Delfine Persoon told VRT Sport.
