Exit Wickmayer and Van Uytvanck

Wednesday was a bad day for Belgian women at the lawn tennis championships in Wimbledon. Both Yanina Wickmayer and Alison Van Uytvanck lost their second round matches. Yanina Wickmayer lost her match against the 16-year-old Croat Ana Konjuh (WTA 189), in three sets 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.

Wickmayer started the first set strongly and although Konjuh gradually improved our compatriot won the set 3-6.

The second set saw Wickmayer make more and more mistakes and she was soon trailing 5-2. Konjuh eventually took the set 6-2.

In the final set Wickmayer Wickmayer started well but soon Kunjuh took the initiative. The third, like the second set ended 6-2 and it was game, set and match to the Croat.

It was a similar story for Alison Van Uytvanck. She lost her 2nd round match against of Dominika Cibulková Slovakia in three sets 6-3, 3-6, 6-8.
