Channel Tunnel closed twice in 24 hours

Train services under the English Channel have resumed following a fire on a lorry on Saturday and a second incident on Sunday. Le Shuttle and the Eurostar are up and running once again.

Services were abandoned on Saturday following a blaze.

Sunday ten services to London had to be cancelled as a result of a second incident. An electrical fault on overhead cabling meant that the Chunnel had to be closed to all traffic from 10 AM until noon to allow urgent repairs.

Shuttle services between Calais in France and Folkestone in England are operating once again as are Eurostar services between London, Paris and Brussels.

Services resumed during the afternoon, but further delays were inevitable. Services are now again returning to normal.
