Police operation in Comines linked to arms trafficking
The public prosecutor of the western city of Tournai has provided more details in connection with the massive police action in the town of Comines last night. Belgian police, prosecutors and the Belgian army's bomb disposal unit launched an operation at the request of the French judicial authorities.
Eighty-two residents were evacuated as police raided a house. Several items were seized, but no arms or explosives.
There is speculation that the raid formed part of a wider operation against terrorism.
