Club Brugge drawn against Manchester United

The draw has taken place in the Swiss town of Nyon for the final preliminary round of this season’s Champions League. The team that came second in the Belgian First Division last season Club Brugge has been drawn to play the English club Manchester United.

Club Brugge will play the away leg of the tie at Old Trafford on 18 or 19 August. The return leg will be played a week later at the Jan Breydel Stadium in Bruges.

Manchester United has won the Champions League three times. However, the team currently managed by the Dutch Coach Louis van Gaal finished fourth in the English Premier League last season which means that they have to play in the final qualifying round.

The Belgian internationals Fellaini and Januzaj both play for United.

Standard to face Norwegian opposition

Standard de Liège has been drawn to play the Norwegian side Molde FK for a place in the group stage of the this season’s Europa League.

Standard will play the away leg of the tie in Norway on 20 August and the home leg a week later on 27 August.
