British media were very positive about 'Sex in Class'. "A brilliant woman on a mission to counterbalance the porn", wrote The Guardian, referring to the fact that young British boys get most of their sex 'education' from watching porn. "Goedele Liekens, a Belgian sexologist, is coming to save our kids and their future love lives with a frank approach to education."
"Our youngsters’ understanding of sex is being skewed by a tidal wave of online imagery, but a former Miss Belgium has a novel approach to teaching them about love and relationships", wrote The Times even before the programme was aired. The Times calls Liekens "the naughty aunt wooing teenagers away from porn".
Jasper Rees of The Telegraph writes that "this lively and unabashed film should be shown in every GSCE class in the country". (...) "So hats off to Hollins Technology College in Accrington, which invited the likeable Liekens to run an intensive and bracingly explicit crash course for 13 volunteers aged 15 and 16."
"Where is this going to take me?"
As her appearance in Britain did not pass unnoticed, Goedele Liekens is getting new kinds of proposals, but how far does she want to jump? "I am getting so many requests now from different countries apart from the U.K., like Ireland. The question now is: where is all this going to take me? I will have to protect myself just a little bit. It was going to be very busy anyway", Liekens told the commercial TV station VTM from Amsterdam via Skype.
"At 30, I would have moved to London"
"I was already involved in programmes in the Netherlands and now the U.K. follows. This not exactly taking early retirement, like I was planning, remember?" Liekens told Het Laatste Nieuws that she is happy with the attention, but that she is sorry that this happening when she is 52.
"If I would have been 30, I would have moved to London straightaway. Now, I just think it's a nice thing. I don't have the burning ambition to build a TV career in the U.K., but on the other hand I am not saying 'no' to other programmes."
