KV Oostende came behind twice, and were lucky to come back twice. The first equaliser came with an own-goal by Moeskroen defender Noë Dusenne, who had put his team ahead earlier in the match with a goal from close range after a corner.
Marko Scepovic made it 2-1 for Moeskroen with a thundering shot, but Ostend equalised through a penalty. Their striker Gohi Bi Cyriac of Ivory Coast converted the penalty, but only just as he tried a 'Panenka'-style touch. The penalty came only minutes after Ostend coach Yves Vanderhaeghe had changed his squad on 3 positions to bring about a kind of shock effect among his players as Ostend hardly created chances.
Despite the 2-all draw Ostend retain the lead. Cyriac has 6 goals now and heads the list of top scorers together with Mbaye Leye of Zulte Waregem (who scored on Friday against Westerlo).
AA Gent break the spell
Champions AA Gent, who had 3 wins and 5 draws before this 9th day of play, finally managed their first away win of the season: 1-3 at Waasland-Beveren. The home team had to swallow 23 goals so far and have the worst defence of the top flight. AA Gent's Laurent Depoitre has 5 goals now after scoring the 0-3 in Waasland-Beveren (photo below).
Other results: Zulte Waregem - Westerlo 4-2, KV Mechelen - Charleroi 0-1 and Standard - OH Leuven 2-2. Standard fought hard for the point after coming 0-2 behind, but remain in the doldrums.
Sunday sees a couple of interesting matches with Lokeren - Club Brugge, Anderlecht- STVV and Kortrijk - KRC Genk. Anderlecht can reduce the gap with Oostende to just 2 points if they win. Zulte Waregem and AA Gent are trailing leaders Ostend with 3 points.
