KRC Genk humiliated at home by Mouscron-Péruwelz

KRC Genk suffered a humiliating 4-0 home defeat at home against Mouscron-Péruwelz. Two first half goal and two injury time goals in the second half were enough to send the few Mouscron fans that had made the long journey to Limburg back home with smiles on their faces.

The result brings to an end KRC Genk unbeaten home record in the 2015-2016 season.

Mouscron started strongly and their Captain Noë Dussenne had the opening goal at his feet, but stumbled rather unfortunately over the ball. Mouscron’s first goal of the game came thanks to a blunder by the Genk keeper Köteles. He deflected Marquet’s shot into Tozé’s path and it was 1-0 to Mouscron-Péruwelz.

KRC Genk were unable to produce anything in the way of a response. Badri made it 2-0 on 36 minutes.

Little changed in the second half with and out of sorts KRC Genk unable to get back into the game. Mouscron-Péruwelz went a man down when Castagne was sent off for his second bookable offence of the game on 62 minutes.

Vaccaro’s goal in the second minute of injury and Mohamed’s goal in the 5 minute of injury time made for a full time score of 4-0 to Mouscron-Péruwelz.

The result sees Mouscron-Péruwelz move up to 11th place with 13 points from 11 games. Racing Genk is 4th with 20 points. Both these positions can change depending on the results of this weekend’s other games.
