There's Diaby again!

Club Brugge have continued their perfect run at home this season with a 2-0 win against Oud-Heverlee Leuven. Abdoulay Diaby, the Mali striker, scored both goals, bringing his tally to 7. The victory for Bruges was welcome to keep the title ambitions alive.

Diaby had scored 4 against Standard de Liège in August, but had been confronted with a drought since then. The newly-arrived striker, who likes to play as a winger to benefit from his speed, received a lot of criticism as expectations were high. Yesterday was a mental boost for him.

The win lifts Club Brugge to 5th place with 22 points, 5 behind leaders KV Oostende and AA Gent. Brugge are showing two faces in the league: poor results in away games, compared to 6 wins in 6 games at home.

Zulte Waregem keep 4th place with 23 points after whipping Sint-Truiden 4-0. Standard continued their comeback effort with a 2-1 win against KV Mechelen. Anderlecht are playing KV Kortrijk tonight in the last game of the 13th round of play. A win would bring them back to pole-position, just one point ahead of champions AA Gent and revelations Ostend.
