Despite high levels of motivation from both sides, chances were few and far between. Genk started on the offence and Proto made a good save from Ndidi on 10 minutes. Gradually Anderlecht moved into the driving seat but the Genk keeper Bizot was rarely tested.
Bizot had a narrow escape when he brought down Suarez just outside the box. However, the match referee Johan Verbist ruled play on. Genk had a couple of chances from De Camargo and Buffel late in the half, but the score remained 0-0.
A Defour free kick and a long-rang shot from Najar aside (both Anderlecht), the second half was devoid in anything much in the way of goalmouth action.
The match ended goalless. The result sees Sporting Anderlecht in 4th place with 33 points from 18 games. KRC Genk is 7th with 24 points.
Late goal feast steers Lokeren to victory
Three goals in the last ten minutes of play saw Sporting Lokeren seize victory out of the hands of defeat in their home game against Sporting Lokeren.
Kortrijk dominated the first half and a D’Haene goal on 45 minutes made for a half time score of 1-0 to the West Flemings.
Lokeren were the better side in the second half. However, it wasn’t until the 82nd minute that they drew level through an Enoh goal. Lokeren took the lead 4 minutes later through Coelho.
A Patosi goal in the first minute of injury time made for a final score of 3-1 to Lokeren. Sporting Lokeren is now 10th in the league with 21 points from 17 games. KV Kortrijk is 6th with 25 points.
