Buffaloes face tough task

AA Gent face an all but difficult task in the second leg of their Champions League tie against the Wolfsburg in two weeks’ time. The Belgian Champions lost the first leg 3-2 on Wednesday evening. Thanks to two late goals from Kums and Coulibaly AA Gent still have a thin chance of qualifying for the Quarter Finals.

There was little evidence of Wolfsburg’s recent lack of form on Wednesday evening. The first half saw the Germans push forward with Träsch and Draxler creating the first chances. At the other end Foket shot over from a Depoitre shot.

AA Gent looked shaky and Mitrovic almost headed the ball into his own goal. Draxler finally opened the scoring for Wolfsburg a minute before half time.

Late goals give AA Gent hope

Draxler scored his second goal of the match on 54 minute and Wolfsburg were two-up. Six minutes later it seemed to be all over for AA Gent when Krusse made it 3-0 to Wolfsburg.

However goals from the Golden Boot Sven Kums on 80 minutes and Coulibaly a minute from time mean that the Buffaloes are still in with a chance of a quarter final place if they can score when they play the second leg in Germany in two weeks’ time.
