“Scientology is not a criminal organisation”

The Brussels criminal court in Brussels has ruled that the Scientology Church is not a criminal organisation. Two not-for-profit organisations and ten members of the Scientology Church stood trial before the Brussels court.

The Scientology Church of Belgium, the European Office for Public Affairs and Human Rights and the international Scientology Church were the organisations that had been summoned.

The Federal Judicial Authorities had wanted the Scientology Church to be convicted as a criminal organisation and had accused those standing trial for fraud, practicing medicine illegally, infringements of the privacy laws and extortion.

However, the judge decided that no crime had been committed.
