Four of those detained on Friday will remain in custody

Four of the six people detained by police on Friday on suspicion of involvement in terrorism will remain in custody. They are Mohamed Abrini, Osama Krayem, Bilal El Mahkoukhi and Hervé B.M. The other two men that were taken in for questioning have been released.

Mohamed Abrini (photo above) is refusing to cooperate and has not answered questions. He has now been detained on suspicion of being an accomplice in the 13 November terror attacks in Paris. It remains unclear as to whether he is the third man, also known as the man in the hat, that was involved in the terrorist bombing at Zaventem Airport, near Brussels on 22 March.

Osama Krayem has been formally identified as the second man that was involved in the Maalbeek metro station bombing. He was filmed talking to the suicide bomber Khalid El Bakraoui at the Pétillon metro station just before the attack.

He was also present when the cases that contained the Zaventem Airport bombs were purchased at a shop in the City 2 shopping centre in Brussels.

Hervé B.M, who was detained together with Osama Krayem will also remain in custody. He is suspected of having aided and abetted Mohamed Abrini and Osama Krayem.

Bilal El Makhoukhi (photo below, left) is also suspected of having aided and abetted Mohamed Abrini and Osama Krayem. He has been placed under arrest.
