Just Goffin left in Wimbledon singles

David Goffin stormed past Edouard Roger-Vasselin in straight sets on Thursday to qualify for the third round. After Kirsten Flipkens' echec against Madison Keys, Goffin is the only Belgian left in the singles tournament. He will face Denis Istomin next.

Goffin needed only 1 hour and 24 minutes to earn a comfortable victory against Edouard Roger-Vasselin, a young French qualifier. Goffin, the 11th seed, won 6-4, 6-0, 6-3.

Goffin is facing Denis Istomin (ATP-116) of Uzbekistan today. A first real test for the Belgian, as the hard-serving Istomin is in good shape. "I know I may sound boring, but David will have to be at 100 percent", his coach Thierry Van Cleemput said. "This is despite the fact that Istomin's play can be volatile."

Thomas Johansson, Goffin's other coach, is very happy with his pupil's form. "He plays a solid game and comes to the net."
