Words of praise for Nafi Thiam from BBC Sport

Despite her having beaten the British athlete Jessica Ennis-Hill into second place, the British public broadcaster BBC piled on the praise when it reported on Nafi Thiam’s victory in the heptathlon.

BBC Sport's chief sports writer Tom Fordyce said Thiam deserved her win, adding: "Five personal bests across seven events, a woman who is only just getting started and should go on to dominate the heptathlon for years to come."

The Britons had been rooting for Jessica Ennis-Hill to repeat her heptathlon victory at the London Olympics four years ago. However, it was not to be and a great overall performance by Nafi Thiam meant gold for Belgium and Silver for Great Britain.

On their website the BBC writes "For the brilliant 21-year-old this is a well-deserved victory”. "Five personal records in seven disciplines. She has only just started out and will dominate the heptathlon for years to come.”
