Train ticket machines out of order

Rail passengers wishing to a buy a ticket from a machine at a station of stop are unable to do so this morning. IT issues mean that the ticket machines at stations and stops across the country are out of order. However, those wishing to buy tickets via the Belgian rail company NMBS’ website or app or from a ticket office at a manned station are still able to do so.

The NMBS spokesman Dimitri Temmerman told VRT News that the issues with the ticket machines first became evident at around 6am.

It is not yet clear how long it will take before the problems with the ticket machines have been resolved. "We are working on a solution", Mr Temmerman said.

The penalty supplement of 7 euro that is charged to customers buying their ticket on board a train will be waved until the issues with the ticket machines have been resolved.
