Fire destroys waste processing company

A fire has destroyed a waste processing company in the Flemish Brabant village of Groot-Bijgaarden. A pile of rubbish caught fire in the yard of the company shortly after midnight. The blaze soon engulfed an adjacent building.

There were no reports of any deaths or injuries and the smoke from the fire wasn’t toxic.  The fire resulted in the closure of the Robert Dansaertlaan at the bridge where it crosses the Brussels orbital motorway. Local residents were asked to keep their windows and doors closed and to turn off ventilation systems.
