Antwerp customs discover cocaine inside fake pineapples

The Customs at the Port of Antwerp have seized 56 kilogrammes of cocaine. They drugs were concealed in a consignment of fake pineapples. The cocaine was discovered on 22 May after a search was carried out based on the results of a risk analysis carried out by the Customs and Excise Service.

The boat carrying the drugs had sailed to Antwerp from Costa Rica and should have been loaded with real pineapples. However, fake pineapples propped with drugs were found among the real fruit.

The Federal Judicial Police have launched an investigation as yet no one has been detained.
