Red Star Line Museum to close for three months

The Red Star Line Museum in Antwerp is to close for three months. The museum that tells the stories of the two million people that sailed from the port of Antwerp to the United States is to undergo a face lift. From September visitors will be able to enjoy a brand new improved exhibition.

The Museum’s Director Karen Moeskops told VRT News that "After almost 5 years it is time to adapt the permanent exhibition to incorporate new stories”

"In the hall at the end of the exhibition we are going to add an extra layer of information telling what happened to the passengers once they had arrived at Ellis Island. In addition to this we are going to better organise our big warehouse to make it more hospitable”.

Temporary exhibition

A new temporary exhibition telling the stories of more than 600 newcomers in Antwerp. The Red Star Museum will re-open on 22 September, 5 years to day since its grand opening in 2013. A host of activities are planned at the museum during the weekend of 22 and 23 September.
