Iconic villa in Brecht knocked down

Villa Nottebohm in Brecht (Antwerp province) has been knocked down. The iconic villa was an inspiration for the American film director Tim Burton’s film "Miss Peregrine’s home for peculiar children".

The villa inspired the author of the book on which the film is based. The movie itself was filmed in Brasschaat

The villa was built at the start of the last century and has been abandoned for some time. It looks like the perfect place to film a horror movie with its overgrown grounds.

The auteur Ransom Riggs took the inspiration for his book Miss Peregrine’s home for peculiar children". A film was made of the book in 2016 directed by Tim Burton and starting Eva Green. Although the plan had originally been to use the villa as the backdrop to the film. It was eventually filmed a few kilometers away in Brasschaat.
