Clamp down on speeding drivers on the motorway

A week of speed checks at the roadworks on the motorway at Ternat have nicely topped up state coffers.  Police drew up no fewer than 950 police reports dealing with speeding offences between 21 June and 28 June.

The good news is that the roadworks on the E40 Ostend Brussels motorway at Affligem are finished.  A month long drivers had to contend with narrower lanes and moderate their speed.  Many did not.  Police focused their attention on this stretch of motorway during the last week of June.  950 speeding motorists can look forward to a fine demand dropping through their letterbox.

The roadworks were needed to repair the slow lane and hard shoulder on the coast-bound stretch while new crush barriers were placed along both sides of the motorway.
