Belgian becomes Wimbledon sensation: "Ali was impressive"

Alison Van Uytvanck booked her most beautiful career when she ousted defending champion Garbine Muguruza at Wimbledon. Her coach was stunned: "Ali was impressive."

24-year-old Van Uytvanck (WTA-47) beat Muguruza 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 late yesterday, creating the biggest surprise in the tournament so far. Muguruza is a top-3 player and was defebding her title.

Her coach, David Basile, was impressed. The two have just been working together since February. "I am speechless. Ali was fantastic. Her win was impressive: she showed pleasure, aggressiveness and played at a high level for three sets. I must say I had a feeling this would be the day. She was in form and we worked well the whole week."

Muguruza is 24 years of age, just like the red-haired Belgian sensation. "She played with the spirit of the Devil. She took a lot of risks and it turned out well. My level was not what I had hoped for."
