Stone throwers knock policeman unconscious outside Maximillian Park

A Brussels police officer was knocked unconscious by a stone thrower on Tuesday evening.  The officer was on his way home with colleagues when their car was pelted with stones.  The incident is not linked to football.

"The incident has nothing to do with the Red Devils" says Brussels police’s Ilse Van de Keere.  "Our colleagues were on their way home travelling in several cars when they were hit by stones outside the Maximillian Park.  The park is a haunt of migrants.

The officer injured was seated in the rear of the vehicle and had his window down.  He was hit in the head.  He was rushed to hospital, an operation seemed on the cards, but he was able to leave hospital on Wednesday afternoon without.

Brussels prosecutors are leading the investigation.  So far nobody has been held.
