Hand grenade thrown at pita snack bar in Antwerp

Residents of the Lange Stuivenbergstraat in Antwerp were roused from their sleep at 4:30AM this morning when a hand grenade was thrown at the outside of a pita snack bar in the North district of the city.  The front of the building and several cars were damaged.

Fortunately nobody was hurt in the incident.  Investigators are not ruling out a settling of accounts among drug dealers.  The street and part of the local area have been cordoned off.  De Lijn buses are having to be rerouted.

It's not the first time that projectiles are thrown in the Antwerp area in this way.  In March a nail bomb was thrown in Deurne.  That incident was tentatively linked to drug trafficking.
