Today is set to be the busiest day of the year at Zaventem Airport, near Brussels as holiday makers set off to or return from their holiday destinations. More than 96,000 passengers are expected to have passed through the airport by the end of the day.

It was very busy at the airport on Sunday. However, today is expected to be busier still with passenger numbers peaking at more than 96,000, 5,000 of whom festival-goers returning home from the Tomorrowland dance music festival that was held in Boom (Antwerp province).

The busiest times at the airport are between 8am and 10am and between 4pm at 6pm.  Nathalie Pierard of Brussels Airport told VRT News that "Passenger scan best take in account that there will be long queues at check-ins and security check points”.

"So we advise people to come to the airport in plenty of time”.

To make life a little easier for yourself you can best check-in in advance online. Those planning to travel to the airport by car can best check the traffic situation before leaving and if needs be reserve a parking space.
