Man seriously-injured in Brussels station shooting

A 28-year-old man has been seriously injured in a shooting near to Brussels South Railway Station. The Brussels South Local Police Service has confirmed that the incident happened at around 6:30am in the Argonnestraat in the municipality of Sint-Gillis.

The two people suspected of having been involved in the shooting fled the scene and are now being sought by the police.

It is not known why the two men opened fire on their victim. He was hit by four bullets and seriously injured.  

The emergency services took the 28-year-old man to hospital in a critical condition. However, his injuries are no longer described as life threatening.

The motive for the shooting is still a mystery. The Brussels Judicial Authorities have opened an investigation. The Judicial Authorities and forensic and ballistics experts from the Federal Police are at the scene.
