Antwerp acid attacker detained

 A woman has been seriously injured on the Sint-Jansplein in Antwerp after she had acid  thrown over her. The 40 year-old woman had sulphuric acid thrown over her in the attack. She was taken to hospital where her condition is described as critical. Her attacker, a former partner has been detained by police.  



Willem Migom of the Antwerp Local Police Service told VRT News that "The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Her condition is life-threatening”

The attacker, the woman’s former partner, has since been detained by police.  

"The attacker was arrested at a flat in Borgerhout. The man has been taken to hospital as he was under the influence of drugs. He will then be questioned and charged”, Mr Migom added.

If found guilty the alleged attack risks up to  20 years imprisonment.
