Two more days of tropical heat, storms and cooler temperatures later in the week

The heatwave is set to continue for another two days with temperatures on Tuesday set to reach 36°C in the Kempen area in Antwerp and Limburg provinces. There is an increased chance of storms with rain, thunder and lightning from Tuesday evening with temperatures in the low to mid-twenties during the rest of the week.

The Royal Metrological Institute (KMI) expects temperatures to reach 34°C in inland areas today and tomorrow with temperatures in the Kempen area even topping 36°C. It will be sunny with some cloud. It will be cooler in coastal areas with temperatures reaching 26°C or 27°C. There will be a moderate north to north-westerly sea breeze. The wind will be felt in all western areas of the country by the end of the day.  

Monday evening and Monday night will clear with minimum temperatures of between 13°C and 20°C with a slight south to south-easterly wind.

Tuesday with be very warm with temperatures of 30°C to 31°C in coastal areas and in the Ardennes and 36°C in the Kempen area in Antwerp and Limburg Province. It will be sunny with banks of high cloud moving in from the west. During the evening and the night there will be an increased chance of storms. The south to south-westerly wind will be slight.  

On Wednesday there will be cloud with sunny spells, showers and storms. During the course of the day the skies will become clear, starting in west of the country. Maximum temperatures in central areas will reach 27°C with temperatures reaching 30°C in the Kempen area.

Thursday will start off dry and bright. As the day goes on cloud will move in from the west and there will be some localized storms. Temperatures will be around 26°C.   

Friday will be dry with cloud and sunny spells with maximum temperatures of between 23°C and 24°C.
