Victor Campenaerts takes gold in the time trial

Victor Campenaerts has taken gold in the time trial at the European Championships in the Scottish city of Glasgow. The rider from Antwerp won the time trial with 63 hundredths of a second to spare, beating the Spaniard Jonathan Castroviejo into second place.

The German Maximilian Schachmann took bronze just ahead of the West Fleming Yves Lampaert. This is the second consecutive gold medal for Victor Campenaerts in the European Championships time trial competition. Last year he took gold in the Danish town of Herning.

Victor Campenaerts’ gold medal is Belgium’s ninth medal in Glasgow so far and the third gold medal.
