Good results for our teams in their Europa League qualifiers

Both Racing Genk and AA Gent came a step closer to a place in this season’s Europa League with victories in the first leg of their respective qualifying ties on Thursday evening.

A strong Racing Genk were dominant in the home leg of their tie against the Polish side Lech Poznan. Ruslan Malinovskiy opened the scoring for Genk at the start of the second half with Mbwana Samatta making it 2-0 on 57 minutes.

A deserved victory that will leave the Limburgers upbeat about next week’s second leg in Poland.

Late goal leaves AA Gent favourite to qualify

AA Genk came a step closer to the play-off round for this season’s Europa League with a 1-0 away win in the first leg of their qualifying match against Jagiellonia Bialystok.

The Buffaloes have their 18-year-old striker Jonathan David (photo below) to thank for the win that puts them in the driving in next week’s second leg in Ghent.
