Kimberley Buys wins first individual European Swimming Championships medal in 18 years

On the final day of the European Championships in Glasgow Kimberley Buys took bronze for Belgium in the 50 metres butterfly. The medal was the first individual medal for a Belgian at a European Championships in 18 years.    

Kimberly Buys made it through to the final with the 3rd best time and she came in 3rd in the final itself, enough for her to pick up a bronze medal.  

The final was won by the Swedish swimmer with a time of 25.16 seconds. The Dane Emilie Beckmann came in second with a time of 25.72. Kimberley’s Buys’ time of 25.74 seconds was four hundredths of a second slower than her Belgian record for the 50m butterfly.
