Second half goals give KRC Genk victory in Ostend

In the first of Sunday’s three Belgian First Division games two goals late in the second half ensured Racing Genk of victory in their game away at KV Oostende.

Although Genk were dominant during the first half they failed to score and the half ended goalless. KV Oostende’s best chance of the half was for Lombaerts. However, for some inexplicable reason he shot over. Sindrit Guri too head wide for KV Oostende at the end of what was to be a goalless first half.  

The home side started the second half strongly and Capon had a shot saved by the Genk keeper Vukovic.

An unfortunate handball by Wout Faes resulted in a penalty for KRC Genk. Trossard scored from the spot-kick and it was 1-0 to the visitors. KVO’s fate was sealed when Malinovski put Genk 2-0 up on 85 minutes. KRC Genk now have 7 points from 3 games. KVO Oostende have 3 points.
