Sporting Anderlecht’s trip to Charleroi was the team’s first real test of the season. Charleroi were strong in the first half and went one up after Kaveh Rezei scored on 41 minutes. However, the Zebras’ joy was short-lived.
Anderlecht were awarded a penalty after Dimata was brought down by the Charleroi keeper Mandanda inside the box. Diamata converted the spot—kick and the half ended 1-1. It was another stroke of luck that saw Ivan Santini score the winning goal on 64 minutes.
There were chances at both ends but no further goals fell and the scored remained 2-1 to Sporting Anderlecht. They now have 9 points from 3 games and are joint top with Club Brugge. Sporting Charleroi have taken 3 points from their first 3 games.
AA Gent outshine and outclass Waasland-Beveren
There was plenty to cheer about in Ghent on Sunday as AA Gent enjoy a comfortable 4-1 win against Waasland-Beveren. Roman Jaremtsjoek opened the scoring for the Buffaloes on 36 minutes and the first half end 1-0 in AA Gent’s favour. All 4 second half gold were scoring in the last 15 minutes of the game.
A foul by Limbombe inside the box meant that AA Gent were awarded a penalty. Birger Verstraete converted at it was 2-0 to AA Gent with 13 minutes left. Aleksandar Vukotic’s goal for Waasland-Beveren on 82 minutes provided a little excitement. However, this didn’t last long as AA Gent extended their lead through Jonathan David (photo below) just a minute later. David’s second goal of the match on 90 minutes made for a final score of 4-1 to AA Gent.
The Buffaloes now have 4 points from 3 games. Waasland-Beveren have 2 points.
