Man receives life-threatening injuries in Aalst stabbing

A man received life-threatening injuries after being stabbed in the East Flemish city of Aalst on Tuesday afternoon. A suspect has been detained it is reported that he and his victim know each other. The motive for the stabbing is still a mystery.  

The stabbing took place in the Sint-Jansstraat in Aalst. Two local residents stated arguing. The men are reported to know each other. According to eyewitnesses the victim had been followed and had sought sanctuary in a bar. It was there that he was stabbed in the back and severely injured. The victim was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition. The perpetrator  was caught quickly and taken in for questioning.

Eva Brantegem of the East Flemish Judicial Authorities told VRT News that Both the victim and the perpetrator are Syrian nationals. The suspect is being questioned by and Examining Magistrate he is suspected of attempted murder. The victim will be question as soon as his condition allows.
