Belgian company lands big IT contract with the European Commission

The IT services provider Modis Belgium has landed a four year contract to provide around 1,200 IT experts to work at the European Commission. The Brussels regional news platform Bruzz reports that Modis Belgium that is based in Groot-Bijgaarden (Flemish Brabant) has signed what it says is “the largest framework agreement for IT services ever signed by a European Union institution”.

Modis won the tender and as such will provide the lion’s share of the 1,200 IT experts to the European Commission and a number of European agencies.

Modis is part of the Swiss-owned Adecco group and currently employs around 10,000 IT experts across Europe. Its customers include IBM, Ericsson, Telenet and the Flemish Government and civil service.

A Modis spokesperson told Bruzz that "Modis’ trump card is that it can call on its other branches elsewhere in Europe and as such isn’t constrained by the shortage of IT experts on the Belgian labour market”.
