Bishop of Liège attacked and robbed in his own home

The Bishop of Liège Jean-Pierre Delville has been attacked and robbed in his own home. The Francophone daily ‘La Dernière Heure’ says that the 67-year-old Bishop and his nephew that was also staying at the apartment were locked up in a wardrobe by the intruders.

Neither the bishop nor his nephew were injured in the incident. They are reported to still be in shock.

The burglars took a chalice, a number of works of art and 20,000 euro in cash. It is not clear who was behind the break-in. The Liège Judicial Authorities have opened an investigation.
