It was a close game. Finland's Toni Piispanen proved a strong challenger, but Genyn stood strong. "It was very close from start to finish", Genyn said. "But I was half a wheel in front and I managed to keep this margin."
His Gold in the 200 metres is his 10th successive triumph in a major championship. "My last years have been so great. I can only hope that this continues." Genyn had to undergo an operation in July to tackle a hip injury, which is why he hadn't expected the success. "I missed several crucial trainings. I am glad it worked out after all."
