Belgian businessman dies in Moscow after fall from building

A Belgian businessman has been found dead after falling from a block of flats.  Confusion surrounds the exact circumstances of Bruno Charles De Cooman's death.

The Russian press agency TASS cites local police sources: "His body was found in the street with signs characteristic of a fall from a great height”.  De Cooman served as the deputy president of NLMK, one of Russia's four biggest steel companies.  The Belgian foreign office has confirmed the Belgian's death but is not providing more details about the nature of his demise.  De Cooman's body was found in front of the House of Embankment in central Moscow.  Local police are investigating the matter.

NLMK has spoken of the tragic death of its deputy president: "His death is an enormous loss for the entire sector" the company website notes.

De Cooman is an alumnus of Cornell University in the US.  He went to work for NLMK in 2017 becoming the head of its R&D department.
