Three cyclists run over by drunk driver

It has emerged that the driver who ran down three cyclists in Waasmunster in East Flanders on Friday night was over the legal drink drive limit.

The victims include a mother and her two children.  Waasmunster Mayor Michel Du Tré has confirmed that the driver was breathalysed and that his test was positive.  The accident happened by a cycle bridge between the municipalities of Waasmunster and Hamme.  The woman and her two children were seriously injured.  Police and traffic experts are trying to establish what exactly happened.
