Helicopter crashes at Wevelgem Airfield

One person has been injured after a helicopter crashed at Wevelgem Airfield in West Flanders. Four people were aboard the helicopter when it crashed just after midday. One of them was slightly injured, other three were unharmed.  

The crash happen when the helicopter was attempting take-off. It is report that there were engine problems and the helicopter turned over and crashed.

Press-Attaché Piet Birlaen of the Fluvia Fire Service told VRT News that “Around midday a helicopter ran into difficulties while taking off. Power to the engine was lost, it turned over and ended up back on the ground”.

“Those that were in the helicopter were lucky and were mostly just shaken. Of the 4 passengers, 1 was taken to hospital with minor injuries. There was no fire after the crash”.
