Belgians ministers met with the British Home Secretary to talk migration
Interior Minister Jan Jambon and Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration Theo Francken had Tuesday in London "a fruitful meeting" with British Interior Minister Sajid Javid on the subject of Migrants in transit, Minister Jambon said.
According to Belgian ministers, the British are keen to complete a partnership with Belgium to prevent migrants from crossing the Channel. Experts from both countries will now meet to implement this collaboration "in the very short term", according to the Belgian Minister of the Interior.
On Twitter, Mr. Francken also welcomed a "constructive" meeting. According to him, this contact should lead to "a partnership to better protect Zeebrugge, ensure a joint police presence on motorway car parks and launch a dissuasion campaign (for migrants)".
On Wednesday, Minister Jambon will visit the port of Zeebrugge with the Governor of West Flanders, Carl Decaluwé.
