Brussel Opera House opens new season with Mozart’s The Magic Flute

The Brussels Opera House Muntschouwburg is opening its new season on Tuesday with one of Mozart’s best-known works. Written in Vienna in 1791 The Magic Flute has been performed at opera houses and theatres the world over. The opera’s intendent Peter De Caluwe has opted for a modern stage production by the Italian Romeo Castellucci.

The role of the Queen of the Night will be played by the sopranos Jodie Devos and Sabine Devieilhe. The Muntschouwburg’s symphony orchestra will be directed by Antenello Manacorda.

The Magic Flute premiers on Tuesday 18 September and runs until Wednesday 3 October.
