Brussels square honours murdered UK MP

The City of Brussels has honoured Jo Cox, the British MP stabbed and killed in the street by a right wing extremist days before the UK’s Brexit referendum in 2016. A square is being named after her.

The Jo Cox Square is close to the Ancienne Belgique concert hall that the socialist MP regularly attended during her stay in the Belgian and Flemish capital.  Ms Cox lived in Brussels for two years, when she worked for the former Welsh Euro MP Glenys Kinnock.

Ms Cox’s sister, Kim Leadbeater, told BBC: "Jo had many happy times living in Brussels and made some deep and long lasting friendships."
