Bullets fly as shop is attacked on Antwerp's Vlaamse kaai

An interior design shop on the Vlaamse kaai in Antwerp was the target of an armed attack overnight.  The shop window was shot to smithereens using high calibre bullets.

The shooting is believed to be a settling of accounts.  The shop's owner was an Antwerp football hooligan in another life.  He told VRT: "I was part of Antwerp's hard core.  I was arrested and the police analysed the data on my cell phone.  The information was used to arrest several people and they were not happy bunnies. This is revenge."

Fortunately nobody was injured in the attack.  Police have cordoned off the area and technicians are at work looking for evidence.  Police and prosecutor sources are unwilling to confirm the owner's account of events.
