Two suspicious deaths at Kortrijk student home

Two bodies have been discovered in a student home in the western city of Kortrijk.  Police and prosecutors are at the scene and are treating the deaths as suspicious.

The bodies were found in the Vlaskot student home that offers accommodation to 35 students.  Eyewitnesses speak of one body being found on the ground floor and traces of blood on the entrance door of the building and its handle.

Cleaners made the macabre discovery: they found one person who was unconscious.  By the time the emergency services had arrived this person had died. One of the two deceased is thought to have lived here.  A post mortem will now establish the exact cause of the deaths.

The victim found on the ground floor is thought to be an 18-year-old man of foreign descent.  The body of a woman was found on the 3rd floor.  Both had been stabbed.  The killer was earlier seen fleeing the scene.
