In pictures: Océade, the days since the closure

After 30 years as one of the capital’s favourite destinations for a family day out, the subtropical indoor water park Océade closed its doors for the last time on Sunday 30 September. Océade, like the most of the other business at the Bruparck site, is having to close to make room for the new NEO complex that comprises a shopping centre, new homes and parkland.

VRT News’ photographer Alexander Dumarey was able to take what will probably be the last photographs of Océade Brussels before the building is dismantled and taken to Romania where it will be rebuilt.

The photographs Alexander took are of empty pools, water slides devoid of children and a once vibrant location devoid of life. The contrast couldn’t be greater with the happy memories many of us have of days out with family and/or friends at the water park.
