Cycling world rocked by another tragic death

The world of cycling in Belgium and beyond has been rocked by the death of another professional cyclist. The 23-year-old WB Aqua Protect Veranclassic’s rider Jimmy Duquennoy died at home of heart failure. The rider from Tournai in Hainaut was first noticed by the cycling world during the Paris to Roubaix cycle race.

His best result this season was 10th place in the Dwars door West-Vlaanderen race.

WB Aqua Protect Veranclassic’s Director of Sport Frédéric Amorison told the Francophone public broadcaster RTBF that “The whole team returned to Belgium together on Wednesday after the Münsterland Giro”.

"Everything was fine with him. This is terrible news”.

23-year-old Duquennoy died at home in an armchair of heart failure. Paramedics were unable to save him.

This was his last season with Aqua Protect Veranclassic. Next season Jimmy Duquennoy had wanted to join an amateur team in France.
