Belgium running on one nuclear reactor till 17 November

Six of the country's seven nuclear reactors are offline and undergoing maintenance.  Electricity generator Engie Electrabel took the Tihange 1 reactor out of service last night in order to allow maintenance.

Five other nuclear reactors are already offline as a result of technical problems or maintenance issues.  A shortage of electricity threatens in coming months.  As a result maintenance on Tihange 1 was brought forward.  The country will only be able to call on one nuclear reactor for a shorter period: from 13 October till 17 November.

Doel 3 with a capacity of 1,006 Megawatt will continue to operate.  Tihange 1 (962 Megawatts) will be back online in mid-November. Engie expects Doel 1, 2 and 4 to return to service in December. For Tihange 3 and 2 we will have to wait until 2019.
